International engineering group MB Aerospace has appointed Karl Fessenden as its new President and Chief Operating Officer.
Mr Fessenden, whose background includes 15 years in the aviation sector with General Electric (GE) and Pratt & Whitney, will help spearhead the company’s global growth strategy. He will assume full functional and operational responsibility for all global operations in North America, Asia and Europe next month.
In his previous role as President and Chief Executive Officer of CHC Helicopter, a global leader in offshore transport, search and rescue, and rotorcraft MRO, Mr Fessenden successfully led the restructuring of the multinational corporation and helped the company generate annual revenue of more than one billion US dollars.
Before joining CHC, he spent 20 years at GE in senior leadership roles and oversaw the integration of the Alstom power-generation business, the largest acquisition in the company’s history.
The strategic appointment comes during a period of sustained growth for MB Aerospace as it continues its international expansion. In the last three years, the company increased its product portfolio by 25% and has introduced significant quantities of new products across its global network of facilities in the US, UK, Poland and Taiwan. Revenues are expected to grow significantly in the coming years as the content supplied on next-generation platforms ramps into higher production rates.
Reporting directly to MB Aerospace Chief Executive Officer Craig Gallagher, Mr Fessenden will lead the group’s continued expansion as a global market leader in aero-engine component manufacturing and repair services, with further organic growth and acquisitions on the horizon.
Mr Gallagher said: “We have a clear strategic vision to accelerate our global growth both organically and through acquisitions and will continue to look for new ways to enhance our customer service proposition, which is underpinned by our growing engineering and operational execution capabilities.
“Karl’s experience in leadership roles at major industrial organisations, combined with his demonstrable success of helping major organisations expand on a global scale,
made him the ideal recruit. We are extremely pleased to welcome him to our senior management team.”
Mr Fessenden has a background in engineering and holds a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Vermont and a Master of Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
He said: “With a superb portfolio of more than 2,000 products, a global network of ten facilities and heavy investment in world-class engineering, MB Aerospace is at an extremely exciting point in its expansion and I’m looking forward to playing my part in the years ahead.”
